Book edges marbling courses

On the first of June, 2019, an exercise was organised for the first time, for “Vilnius Bookbinders guild”. The intention was to teach how to marble block book edges.
Each participant had to bring a binded, and formed book block. During the exercise, the block was covered in alum, and later decorated with a pattern of your own creation. After a few weeks, when the paper marbling paint has dried, the block books were polished using an agate stone. Polishing lends the book block brilliance, smoothness, and mechanically closed paper fibers protect the block from dirt and mold.
The coziness of “Siberiana books” studios and the positive atmosphere among attendees gave rise to great work results.
